On Nov. 7, 2023, the Paulding County School District will ask voters to go to the polls to consider renewing the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST) for five years. Here are some quick facts you should know:

    • E-SPLOST is a one-cent sales tax on all eligible retail sales in Paulding County.

    • The referendum on November 7th is not proposing a new tax, but a continuation of the current E-SPLOST program that has been in place since 1997.

    • E-SPLOST is a consumption tax, not a property tax.

    • Everyone who makes a purchase contributes to our schools, including those who live elsewhere who are just visiting or passing through.

    • E-SPLOST cannot be used for operating expenses, such as salaries. It is for capital projects only as defined in state law.

    • E-SPLOST has helped to construct 22 new schools in Paulding, added hundreds of new classrooms, renovated existing facilities including athletics and physical education, upgraded fine arts, and enhanced technology.

    • Every school in Paulding County has been impacted by E-SPLOST.
