Substitute Teaching Information

  • Applications will be accepted for the 2023-2024 school year beginning July 15, 2023.  


    Requirements to become a Substitute Teacher with Paulding County School District
     

    1. Employment Application
      • Apply for the Substitute Teacher position by completing an employment application on our website.  You will need to provide three professional references. Please verify that your listed references have completed the Reference Check survey that was emailed to them.
      • Please answer the Background Information section thoroughly.  If you answer Yes to one of the questions, please explain in detail.  
    2. RESA Substitute Teacher Training
      • To register for the RESA Substitute Teacher Training, please visit the Northwest RESA website  for available dates/times. There is a $50 cost for the RESA training.
      • Payment and scheduling are handled directly through RESA.
      • Once completed, please upload a copy of your certificate with your employment application.
    3. High School Diploma, GED, or College Transcripts
      • Please upload a copy of your transcript or diploma with your employment application.

    If selected, the applicant will be notified to complete the steps below. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing time.

     

    • Complete New Hire Paperwork Online
      • An email will be sent to you with directions for completing onboarding paperwork once the requirements above are met.
    • Criminal Background Check 
      • Fingerprinting will be conducted at the Board of Education Central Office. The fingerprinting cost is covered by the District.
      • An email will be sent once the application has been approved to schedule a date/ time for fingerprinting.  Please do not show up without registering for a fingerprinting appointment.

    *Substitute Daily Rate of Pay:  $150

      

    Supply Teaching
    Requirements To Become a Supply Teacher with Paulding County School District

    1. Complete the requirements for becoming a Substitute Teacher
    2. Hold a valid Georgia teaching certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (www.gapsc.com
    3. Notify Human Resources of your desire to work in a supply teaching position
      *Substitute training is not required for Supply Teachers 

      **Supply Daily Rate of Pay:  $200

    Payroll Cutoff Schedule

    • Click here for a document providing an explanation of payroll deposit dates and the corresponding payroll cutoff dates the school district follows. 
      • For example: if John Doe worked as a substitute on August 10th, he would be paid on the September 30th payroll because he worked past the cutoff for the August payroll.
