Georgia Milestones

  • Each school year, Paulding County students take part in the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS), the statewide program designed to measure how well students are mastering the Georgia Standards of Excellence.

These assessments provide valuable information about student learning in core subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The results not only help parents and educators understand each child’s progress but also give schools and the district important insights into overall academic performance and growth.

The Georgia Milestones include a variety of question types—such as multiple choice, constructed response, and extended writing tasks—that require students to demonstrate both knowledge and critical thinking. Students in grades 3–8 participate in End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments, while high school students take End-of-Course (EOC) assessments for specific subjects.

    Assessment results are used to:

    • Provide feedback to families about student achievement.

    • Support teachers in planning instruction to meet student needs.

    • Inform school and district improvement efforts.

    • Contribute to state accountability measures like the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI).
