Crossroads Middle School Official Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
-
The ribbon cutting and official grand opening of Crossroads Middle School took place on Monday, July 22, 2024, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of parents, students, staff members, and local government officials. The celebration was a historic day for the Paulding County School District as Crossroads Middle School officially became the school district's 10th middle school and 34th school overall. The new school, home of the Timberwolves, will be a community landmark for decades to come. The event was attended by members of the Paulding County Board of Education, and speakers included Superintendent Steve Barnette, School Board Chair Deborah Collett, Pastor Brian Bloye of West Ridge Church, Crossroads Principal Tom Alverson, and students Koi Hilman, Madison Bowen, Liam Londraville, and Naomi Brooks. The North Paulding High School marching band and NPHS varsity cheerleaders added spirit and enthusiasm to the event, while the NPHS JROTC presented the colors prior to the new school’s first-ever official flag-raising.
The ribbon cutting and grand opening of Crossroads Middle School marked the culmination of a project that began in September 2022 when members of the Paulding Board of Education officially broke ground. Construction of the new school has been funded largely by E-SPLOST (Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax), a one-cent sales tax approved by voters to fund school capital-needs projects like this one. Thanks to the efforts of RKR Construction, the project was completed on time and within the promised budget. The new school will be able to accommodate more than 1,000 students within its 148,000 square feet and 66 classrooms, helping to alleviate capacity issues at McClure, Moses, and East Paulding middle schools.
The beautiful new facility includes general education and special education classroom spaces, Connection classrooms including Physical Education, Band, Choral, Art, World Language, and CTAE Computer Science and Engineering rooms, as well as media center and a cafeteria with stage.
Crossroads Middle School is certain to become a source of pride for the middle school students it will serve, as well as their families, school staff, and the entire school community.
