Coach Billy Shackelford is starting his second season as the East Paulding Raiders Head Football Coach.  Coach Shackelford has been married to his wife Missy for ten years and have a daughter, Sami, who's eight.  They have an English Bulldog named Boomer and a cat named Mac.

Coach Shackelford is in his 24 year of Coaching.

He was formerly the Head Coach at Sprayberry.  At his alma mater, Shackelford took over a program that had only had 3 winning seasons in almost 22 years.  Under his leadership, the Yellow Jackets would go to the playoffs four out of the first five years.  He lead the Yellow Jackets to its first Region Championship in 31 years.   Shackelford's region record was 32-22 in his ten season.  His overall regular season record at Sprayberry was 51-49.  Prior to Coach Shackelford's leadership, Sprayberry had one winning season in 18 years.

As an assistant, Coach Shackelford started at (1993-94)Tennessee Tech University as a graduate assistant, coaching the running backs for two seasons.  In '95, Coach Shackelford started coaching high school football in Dalton, Ga. for two seasons (SE/NE).  Shackelford then moved to South Cobb High School ('97-'00) to help coordinate the offense and specials teams with Scott Jones (current HC at North Paulding) for four seasons; helping lead the Eagles to the playoffs and Region Championships.

In 2000, Shackelford joined Coach Jones as his high Offensive  and Special Team Coordinator as they opened Kennesaw Mountain.  Shackelford would spend four season with the Mustangs, helping them build a program and a 7-3 record in its first Varsity Season.

In 2004, Shackelford moved back to South Cobb. While at SCHS, Shackelford again ran the offense and special teams.  South Cobb would go to the playoffs three straight years and earn Shackelford Cobb County's Offensive Coach of the Year ('05).

In 2006, Shackelford moved to North Cobb High School, where his offense  would lead Cobb County in offense, earn a playoff berth and again, for the 2nd straight year, earn Offensive Coach of the Year.   At the end of the '06 season, Sprayberry hired Coach Shackelford to be its new Head Coach and first Head Coaching Position.

Quote from Head Coach Billy Shackelford

"My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Raider Nation!  This program has great tradition, amazing fans and a supportive community.  I have hired an extremely talented coaching staff that puts a priority on building young men first and players second.  We will work tirelessly to make our community proud of our players and program!  Thank you for intrusting me with this awesome responsibility and GO RAIDERS!"
