CHORUS
We will spend Monday reviewing what we have previously learned in our two pieces, and the rest of the week we will be adding on. If you ordered a mask for your student I received a notification that they have been shipped! I hope to see them either by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. They are coming from Texas, and I am certain the weather there is going to slow down the shipping process.
We will begin a new sight reading activity in each grade level this week. It will look familiar to the 7th and 8th grade choruses, but will be completely new for the 6th grade. It will become part of our daily routine as we continue to put into action all of the information we have learned about pitch and rhythm so far this year.
MUSIC APPRECIATION
This week we will complete a module about responding to music. We will take time in class on Tuesday to listen to a spiritual and attempt to unlock it's code. Afterwards, your student will have another piece of music to read about, listen to, and respond to before the end of the week. When we meet on Thursday we will listen to a second piece of music that goes with the second assignment for the week.
This module does need to be completed in order from top to bottom. If your student finds a locked page it could mean that they haven't completed the item above it in the module. I sent an announcement to the class this morning letting them know what to expect this week, as well as a suggested timeline for getting things done.
GUITAR
We will spend Monday reviewing all that we have learned so far. This includes four chords and two strums. For the rest of the week we will be catching up on missed assignments and beginning a new strum. I will be assigning Reggae Feet for completion by Friday.
If you notice a zero for an assignment this means that your student did not take their playing test on time. I will be talking with them in class again today about making sure they take their tests on time.
