    READ 180-SYLLABUS

    READ 180 is the leading blended learning intervention program building reading comprehension, academic vocabulary, and writing skills for struggling students in Grades 4 and up. READ 180 is designed to provide personalized, purposeful instruction to accelerate reading success. It provides individualized digital experiences that engage students and ensure the mastery of critical reading skills

     

    SUPPLES
    Teacher-provided materials:

    • Folders
    • Three Ring Binders
    • Student Workbooks
    • Textbooks, handouts, videos, and other resources will be provided as needed. 
    •  Independent Reading Books

    Students should bring the following materials to class EVERY DAY:
    * Pencil

    *Paper

    Class Activities
     This is a Connections Class (45 mins)
    1.  Students will come in each day and sit in the area they were in at the end of class the previous day

    1. Whole Group –Direct instruction to the group about a specific topic (10 minutes)
    2. Workbooks
    3. Students will complete the (DO NOW) in the back of their workbook.

                 At the beginning class, students will complete the “DO NOW” (Warm-up), a

                 Language focus activity.               

    1.                       
               Once everyone has completed the DO NOW, students will rotate to the next group. 
                              Three Groups (two rotations daily)

                   Groups are chosen randomly by the program

    • Small Group – Students receive individualized, teacher-led instruction to help them master the skills from the whole-class workshop.
    • Student Application (Computer work) – Student will log into the Read 180 website and complete 15-20 mins individualized instruction based of their reading levels.  
    • Independent Reading (Classroom Library) – Students will choose, from the bookshelf, any book based on their Lexile Score.  They will keep a Daily Reading Log and record the total number of pages read each day.   
    1. 3. Before leaving the classroom

    * Students will make sure their area is clean 

    * All materials are put back in their original location

    2. Language Zone-build vocabulary
    3. Fluency Zone-fluency skills
    4. Writing Zone-strengthen and practice writing skills
    5. Success zone-students apply fluency and comprehension skills

     

    The program consists of six Workshop. 

     

    There are two assessments for each workshop:

    1. Interim Workshop Assessment-given at the midpoint of the Workshop

     (formative grade)

    1. End of Workshop Assessment-given at the end of the Workshop (Summative Grade)

    GROUPS ALWAYS TRANSITION TO THE RIGHT-NO EXCEPTION-SILENT ROATIONS

    Transitioning Between Stations 

    Each day one student will be the timekeeper.  That student will set their alarm for 15 mins. When that alarm goes off, each student will grab their belongings and wait for the signal to move to next station.  

    Station Work-Students are to remain in their seats and complete all their assignments.

    No food are drinks are allowed

     

     

    There are several small celebrations throughout the year to acknowledge the student’s hard work and success.
