Ragsdale Elementary

Welcome to second grade at Sara Ragsdale Elementary! My name is Debra Oglesby Duncan and I am so excited to be starting a new year of learning adventure with your child. I have been teaching for 21 years and this begins my 9th year teaching second grade. Throughout my years of teaching I’ve taught all grades pre-k through 4^th, and I can say without a doubt that second grade is my absolute favorite!

I was born and raised in Talladega Alabama. I graduated from Valdosta State University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I furthered my education by earning a master’s and specialist’s degree from Piedmont College. 

I live in Temple Georgia with my son, Zach, and our dog Deano. Our oldest son, Lance also lives in Temple Georgia. He is married to Abbie Farr Duncan and they have three adorable children, Tucker, who is 5, Evie Claire, 2, and Isla 5 months. I enjoy reading, sewing, gardening, and spending time with my family.

I look forward to working with you as a team to further your child’s education. We, parents, teachers, and students, are all a part of your child’s educational family. Each one of us plays a very important part in helping them succeed! I encourage you to take an active part in your child’s education—read with them, review homework, and attend the educational workshops/activities our school offers.
