    SPMS PANTHER BAND

     

    Mr. Ragan teaches band for all grade levels at South Paulding Middle School.

    Biography:

    Mr. Ragan has been band director at South Paulding Middle School since 2018. He is a graduate of Reinhardt University with a Bachelor of Music Education and  Bachelor of Music in Bass Trombone Performance. Primary teaching mentors include David Gregory, Paula Thomas-Lee, Gary Gribble, Josh Rudolph, Michael Foxworth, and Richard Bell. He studied trombone with Harry Maddox.

    Mr. Ragan is proud to assist with the Paulding County Marching Band. Past teaching assignments include Elementary Music at Dallas ES, Orchestra and Chorus Director for Kendrick MS, and sectional instruction at Herschel Jones MS, Etowah HS, Pope HS,  and many others. Mr. Ragan is also the director of APWinds, a community band based out of Woodstock, GA. He has directed that group since 2012.

    Mr. Ragan has taught private lessons on trombone and euphonium and his students have performed in GMEA district, and All-State ensembles. He performs in the Red Top Brass Quintet. Past performance credits include: Gwinnett Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Wind Symphony, Tara Winds, Etowah Jazz Society, Alliance Drum and Bugle Corps, Atlanta CV Drum and Bugle Corps, multiple ensembles at Reinhardt University, and finalist in the inaugural Southeast Trombone Symposium Solo Competition.

    Mr. Ragan's wife Kristen plays clarinet and they live happily in Dallas, GA with their dog Marco.
