Dowis Picture
  • John Dowis has taught in Paulding county schools since 2007, mostly teaching math for 12 years at Hiram High School followed by four years teaching math and computer science at Paulding Virtual Academy. Joining PCCA to teach cybersecurity for the 2024-25 school year, he is finally realizing his lifelong goal to teach exclusively computer classes.

Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a programmer and curriculum designer for a math education software company. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science, a master’s in math education, and a specialist in curriculum and instruction.

In his spare time, he likes to build computers and play games on them, as well as hiking, traveling, and struggling to keep up with his wife, who is a stunt performer in film and television.
