UPDATE: Two PCSD Seniors Advance
Congratulations to East Paulding High School's Catherine Basch and North Paulding High School's William Smallwood. The seniors were chosen to advance and represent Georgia at the national level with an opportunity to become U.S. Presidential Scholars. It is the first time Paulding County has advanced two nominees to the national level.
Each state can nominate 10 males and 10 females and up to 5 additional CTAE nominees, so Catheriine and William are among just a couple of dozen students who will represent Georgia. The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 1979, the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts. In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
We know Catherine and William will represent Paulding County and Georgia well!
