Paulding County School District schedules Remote Learning Days throughout the school year to support high-quality instruction, operational readiness, and continuity of learning for all students.
What is a Remote Learning Day?
Remote Learning Days provide students with meaningful, teacher-planned digital learning experiences completed from home using district-approved platforms and tools. These days are intentionally designed to reinforce key academic concepts, promote independent learning, and strengthen students’ digital skills through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
Why is a Remote Learning Day scheduled early in the year?
Typically, a Remote Learning Day is scheduled within the first 10 days of the school year. This planned day allows students and families to practice accessing instructional materials and assignments through Canvas, the district’s learning management system. Building familiarity with Canvas—including logging in, navigating courses, and accessing assignments—supports student success and confidence throughout the school year.
Supporting District & School Operations
In addition to supporting student learning, Remote Learning Days early in the school year allow schools and the district time to finalize operational adjustments. Student enrollment, class schedules, bus routes, and staffing are initially projected prior to the start of school and may require refinement once students are on campus.
A planned Remote Learning Day helps schools complete these adjustments efficiently while maintaining instructional continuity for students.
Aligned to the PCSD Mission
The mission of the Paulding County School District is to "prepare all students for success today and tomorrow". Expanding access to digital learning and innovative instructional practices is a key part of that mission. The district’s one-to-one device initiative, STEM programming, and College, Career, and Life Readiness opportunities support personalized learning and help students develop the skills needed for future success.
