• Greetings parents and students! 

    My name is Mrs. Nikki Corn, and I am excited to be a part of the amazing staff here at P.B. Ritch Middle School.  As a member of the 6th grade team, I am looking forward to leading your child on an adventurous journey through earth science.  Making the transition from elementary school to the middle school environment can be a scary and intimidating process for our young students, and I hope to offer comforting guidance during this time of change and uncertainty.  Middle school can be fun, too! 

    I thought it might be helpful to tell you a little bit about myself.  I spent a wonderful four years at Berry College in Rome, GA, and graduated with a degree in chemistry.  I completed my Master’s of Science in Teaching from Middle Tennessee State University.  While this is my first year teaching at PB Ritch (where my middle son currently attends), I have five years of teaching experience at Wheeler High School, three years of experience teaching science with Georgia Virtual School, and a couple of years experience volunteering as a science facilitator at Quality Schools International in Muenster, Germany.  While volunteering there, I also had fun coaching and leading a middle-school team of runners in our training and competition at an international track meet, which is one of my favorite memories!  

    I have been married to my husband, Jamie, for twenty-two years, and we have three sons, all currently attending Paulding County Schools.  Eli, my oldest, is a sophomore at East Paulding High School;  Atticus, my middle, is a 7th-grader here at Ritch; and Ollie, my youngest, is a 5th-grader at McGarity Elementary.  Because Atticus was a 6th-grader here last year, I can really identify and sympathize with how you parents are feeling right now.  I know that you are full of questions, and while I might not always have all the answers, I will certainly do my best to find them out for you and/or guide you to them.  There are a lot of things we are all learning together in this really trying year of 2020.  

    I look forward to getting to know my 6th-graders this year!  I want my classroom to be a place of comfort and acceptance, a place that feels safe enough for them to take risks and make mistakes, and a place that encourages inquiry and open-mindedness.  I know we can have a fun year learning from each other!
