Early Intervention Program

Early Intervention Program (EIP)

The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a state-funded instructional support program designed to help students in grades K-5 who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining grade-level performance in English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, or both.

The goal of EIP is to provide additional, targeted instruction to help students close academic gaps and meet grade-level expectations as quickly as possible.

Program Overview

EIP services are designed to:

  • Support students who need additional time and instruction to master grade-level skills.

  • Provide evidence-based, small-group or individualized interventions focused on each student’s areas of need.

  • Supplement, not replace, regular classroom instruction.

  • Ensure students receive frequent progress monitoring to guide instructional decisions.

EIP is intended to be temporary. Students enter and exit the program based on data showing their current performance. Once a student meets grade-level standards, they no longer receive EIP services.

How Students Qualify

Students may qualify for EIP based on:

  • Performance on state and national assessments

  • Classroom performance and local assessments

  • Teacher observations and other progress-monitoring measures

Each student’s progress is reviewed regularly to determine continued need or readiness to exit the program.

Family Partnership

Families play a vital role in student success. Parents and guardians are encouraged to:

  • Stay informed about their child’s progress and EIP goals.

  • Communicate regularly with teachers about strategies to support learning at home.

  • Celebrate academic growth and encourage continued effort.

If your child qualifies for EIP, your school will notify you and share information about the instructional supports provided.
