Early Intervention and Remedial Education Programs

Supporting Every Student’s Path to Success

Paulding County School District is committed to providing every student with the support they need to achieve academic success. Through our Early Intervention Program (EIP) in grades K–5 and our Remedial Education Program (REP) in grades 6–12, we ensure that students receive targeted instruction and resources designed to help them reach grade-level expectations and grow as confident, capable learners.

Early Intervention Program (EIP) – Grades K–5

The Early Intervention Program provides additional academic support to students in kindergarten through fifth grade who are performing below grade-level expectations in reading and/or mathematics.

EIP is designed to:

  • Identify students who need extra time and targeted instruction to master essential skills.

  • Provide small-group or in-class instructional support aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence.

  • Build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy through research-based strategies and interventions.

  • Foster confidence and engagement in learning, ensuring all students are prepared for future success.

EIP teachers and classroom teachers collaborate closely to tailor instruction, monitor progress, and celebrate growth. Support may occur within the classroom or through small-group settings, depending on student needs and school models.

Remedial Education Program (REP) – Grades 6–12

The Remedial Education Program serves students in grades six through twelve who require additional instructional time or targeted support to meet grade-level standards in English Language Arts or mathematics.

REP focuses on:

  • Providing flexible instructional models that address learning gaps and promote mastery of core skills.

  • Supporting students with individualized and small-group instruction in reading, writing, and mathematics.

  • Preparing students to meet graduation requirements and succeed in advanced coursework.

  • Encouraging perseverance, confidence, and academic independence.

Instruction within REP aligns with state standards and is designed to accelerate learning, not merely repeat prior content. Teachers use progress monitoring tools to guide instruction and ensure that every student receives meaningful, personalized support.

Our Commitment

Both the Early Intervention and Remedial Education Programs reflect the district’s strategic goal to develop and advance resources that inspire a culture of innovation and support student achievement. Paulding County School District believes that with the right supports, all students can thrive academically and reach their full potential.
