Curriculum Requirements
The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) provide the foundation for all teaching and learning across the Paulding County School District. These standards define what students should know and be able to do at each grade level and in every course, ensuring a rigorous and consistent framework for academic success.
The Paulding County School District has fully adopted the revised Georgia Standards of Excellence in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics, as developed and approved by the Georgia Department of Education. These new standards emphasize real-world application, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills designed to prepare students for college, career, and life success.
All other content areas—including Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, World Languages, and Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE)—are also taught using the Georgia Standards of Excellence, which have been implemented statewide.
Developed with input from Georgia educators, parents, higher education, and business leaders, the GSE represent the state’s commitment to providing a clear, rigorous, and relevant curriculum while maintaining full state-level autonomy over standards and assessments.
