Hello! Hola! Jambo! Ciao! Salut!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Paulding County School District ESOL webpage!
The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program is dedicated to helping multilingual learners develop English language proficiency so they can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Our goal is to ensure that every English Learner (EL) can participate meaningfully and equally in all educational programs and services, as required by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR).

About the ESOL Program

The Paulding County ESOL Program provides high-quality, student-centered language instruction designed to meet the individual needs of English Learners at all grade levels. The program is an integral part of the district’s Coherent Instructional System within Georgia’s Systems of Continuous Improvement Framework and functions as a core instructional component of the state’s Tiered System of Supports for Students.

Through this program, EL students receive strategic language instruction and support services tailored to their individual needs. The ESOL program focuses on building academic English proficiency so that students can engage fully in grade-level instruction and meet challenging state academic content and achievement standards.

Our Approach

The ESOL program supports students through multiple service models, ensuring instruction meets both academic and linguistic needs.

We help students develop English language proficiency by:

  • Providing each English Learner (EL) with the academic and social skills necessary for lifelong learning through a student-centered and differentiated instructional program.

  • Offering push-in, pull-out, and scheduled classes based on student language proficiency and academic needs.

  • Promoting understanding and appreciation of cultural and linguistic diversity across our schools.

  • Encouraging parent and community involvement in education and student success.

  • Supporting students’ home language by offering materials in families’ first languages for parents to use when reading with their children.

Program Goals

Our ESOL teachers and staff are committed to helping every English Learner achieve success by focusing on the following goals:

  • Teach using all forms of communication with a daily focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

  • Use needs-based instruction tailored to each student’s language proficiency.

  • Foster a vision of immigrant and multilingual learners as assets to our schools, community, and state.

  • Provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages risk-taking and confidence in language use.

  • Prepare all students for success today and tomorrow through academic rigor, cultural understanding, and community support.
