Literacy Interventions
Paulding County Literacy Interventions
The Paulding County School District is committed to providing personalized literacy support for all students, ensuring that each learner has access to the instruction and interventions needed for success in Reading and English Language Arts (ELA). Literacy intervention services are designed to address individual academic needs through a tiered system of support that emphasizes prevention, early identification, and targeted instruction.
Paulding County adheres to the Georgia Department of Education’s guidelines for both the Early Intervention Program (EIP, Grades K–5) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS, Grades K–12)—frameworks that include academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports. These systems work together to ensure that every student receives the right level of support at the right time.
Our approach to literacy intervention emphasizes:
-
Student ownership of learning through goal setting, reflection, and progress monitoring
-
Systematic use of data to identify skill gaps and personalize instruction
-
Student voice and choice to promote engagement and social-emotional well-being
-
Integration of 21st-century skills that connect literacy learning to life, community, and career readiness
-
Technology-enabled learning using adaptive, research-based software programs
-
Just-in-time instruction for targeted, flexible skill development
-
Blended models of teaching that combine whole-group, small-group, and collaborative learning
-
Flexibility in goals, process, and products to honor diverse learning pathways
-
Implementation of research-based practices and evidence-based interventions aligned with state and district standards
Through this comprehensive and responsive model, Paulding County ensures that every student develops the foundational literacy skills necessary to thrive as a reader, writer, and lifelong learner.
