Credentials of Value · Technical Skill Attainment · End-of-Pathway Assessments (EOPAs)
PCSD CTAE students who complete a pathway can earn valuable industry certifications/credentials, occupational assessment achievements, and/or state licensure. These credentials help students stand out for employment, apprenticeships, college, and technical programs.
What is an EOPA?
A rigorous, industry-aligned exam developed by professionals in each career field. It verifies students’ technical skills beyond a standard high school diploma and may award an industry credential.
Why does it matter?
- Many EOPAs provide an industry-recognized certification.
- Credentials strengthen college, career, military, and apprenticeship applications.
- Recognizes technical skill attainment per federal Perkins requirements.
When does it happen?
In PCSD, students take the EOPA at the end of the third course in a CTAE pathway. This aligns with Georgia’s EOPA process derived from Perkins IV legislation.
Key Points for Families
- Many exams award an industry credential immediately upon successful completion.
- Credentials can benefit students seeking employment and/or postsecondary opportunities.
- Pathway Assessment Scholar cords are available for purchase for students who pass their End-of-Pathway assessment.
