Identification and Talent Development

Students can be referred for consideration for the Paulding County School District Gifted Program by teachers, parents or guardians, counselors, administrators, or other adults who are familiar with the student’s academic abilities and potential.

In addition, students may also be automatically referred through the district’s universal screening process, which helps identify students who may qualify for gifted services.

If you believe your child may benefit from the gifted program, please contact the Lead Gifted Teacher at your child’s school for more information about the referral and evaluation process.

The Talent Development Program in Paulding County School District is designed to nurture the potential of all students by providing learning environments that foster critical thinking, creativity, and innovation—skills essential for success in the 21st century.

This program serves as an early opportunity to identify and cultivate emerging talent in students who may demonstrate advanced potential but have not yet been formally identified as gifted. By providing access to challenging and engaging learning experiences, the Talent Development Program helps ensure that every student has the chance to explore, grow, and excel.

Through participation in the Talent Development Program, students will:

• Engage in problem-solving and inquiry-based activities that promote creativity and innovation.

• Build confidence in taking academic risks and thinking independently.

• Develop foundational skills that align with gifted and talented instructional practices, such as advanced questioning, research, and creative expression.

• Experience differentiated instruction that supports individual strengths and interests.

The goal of the Talent Development Program is to create equitable opportunities for all learners—regardless of background or previous academic performance—to access enrichment experiences and instructional strategies used in gifted education. These experiences help prepare students for potential future participation in gifted and advanced programs, while also encouraging a lifelong love of learning and discovery.
