FAQ's
What Sports do you offer in middle school?
The Paulding County Middle School Athletic Conference offers the following sports:
Football: Begins second day of school. This year, there will be a 7th Grade Team and an 8th Grade Team. Be sure to sign up at open house.
Girls fastpitch softball: Tryouts begin second day of school. Team is made up of 7th and 8th grade students. Be sure to sign up at open house.
Basketball - Begins in mid-October. Sign ups will be announced. Our teams consist of 7th grade girls basketball, 8th grade girls basketball, 7th grade boys basketball, 8th grade boys basketball.
Soccer – Begins in mid-February. Sign ups will be announced. Our boys teams will be made up of 7th and 8th grade boys. Our girls teams will be made up of 7th and 8th grade girls.
Cheerleading – Tryouts for 7th and 8th grade cheerleading are held in the spring. The teams for this school year have already been selected.
What is the academic eligibility requirement?
Fall semester. Students for fall sports must have passed 4 out of 5 academic classes and 1 out of 2 connections classes for the last semester (i.e. last spring).
Students for winter and spring sports must pass 5 out of 6 classes to be eligible.
Do I need a physical?
Yes. In order to participate you must have a current physical signed by a doctor. The physical must be on the blue Paulding County Physical form. You will also need to fill out the blue parental consent form that includes emergency contacts, medical history and insurance information. These forms are available on the Paulding County BOE website as well as at the school.
What if I don’t have insurance?
A school time insurance form is available for purchase through T.W. Lord and Associates. The coverage is for the school year and the cost is reasonable. Your coach must have a copy of your order form and personal check
Can a 6th grader participate?
No. In the State of Georgia, 6th grade students are not eligible to participate in middle school athletics.
